Breannait de Poire (Brenna de Pwahr)
Breannait lived somewhere in the Carolinas with her parents an house maid, Zemi, who was rumored to be from the Caribbean. After her Mother died she was cared for by Zemi while her ship Captain father t'was away. T'were rumors Zemi be a witch, an they both disappeared after her father was reported to have gone down at sea.
She wed a man who owned a tavern in Tortuga, an raised 4 sons. (2 are rumored to be pirates, 1 is possibly a missionary of sorts an 1 may now run the tavern after her husband's death).
Eventually rumors of her ability to bless sailors with the 3 Knots (possibly t'was taught to her by Zemi) an her affinity to the sea an tides (she is oft seen on the shore in moon glow), made her sought after by men o' the sea. (According to legends some believe one might control the wind by use of three knots tied in rope, or sometimes in a handkerchief, in the proper magical way, so that wind t'was bound up in them. These were given, ofttimes sold, to sailors to help them in their voyages. Releasing one knot brings a gentle, southwesterly wind; two knots, a strong north wind; an three knots, a tempest.)
Some swear she be a kindly aging matron, others say a harmless old crone, yet others (usually those who have crossed her) call her a sea hag.
She sometimes may be in the company of Captain Briggins an his crew, offering blessings for safe travels.
